So I picked up at lightbar with signals and passing lamps at a great deal (free with $100 purchase of Silverado windshield and mounts).
I'll need to fab a bracket for it as it was cut off (no idea why, but that's why he threw it in for free).
Checked everything out and all is working fine. But when looking at the wiring I have the usual 6 wires for the turn signals (3 for each side) and then only one wire for the lamps. It appears they are wired to a small switch on the side of one lamp so they can be switch off. They share the common ground for the signals.
Currently, the single wire for the lamp is wired in conjunction with the blue 'always on' wire for the turn signal running lights. I'm OK with this as it means the passing lamps will be always on regardless of hi/low beams (and I can always turn them off with the hard wired switch).
However, I think I'm getting pretty close to the amp load for the circuit. The headlamp is a 55w H4, the signals are factory 15w bulbs, and the passing lamps are 35w H3 bulbs for a total of 155 watts or 12.91 amps. I can't see anything else on the 15 amp circuit and when I wired them up as a test the fuse didn't blow.
I know some would go the route of a relay switch with a hard-wired fused line to the battery. I'm fine with that, but I'm curious how these lights are wired from the factory. Given that these are all genuine Yammy parts, what is the factory wiring scheme?
Many thanks!
